Trout is a simple music player. Although the application doesn’t have any advanced features, it is highly customizable and includes many options that allow for a lot of versatility. That’s why the options' window contains the numerous elements (more than you can find in the main window). The program’s behavior can be finely tuned here, but, probably, the best part, which many users will appreciate, is the ability to define hotkeys. More than 30 actions can be assigned to the shortcut keys you desire.
The application can interact with Last.fm and Libre.fm, allowing you to easily find comprehensive information about the artist, album or track you’re playing.
If you got bored of complex media player interfaces, skins and advanced features, you will appreciate the “naked” look of this utility. Personally, I can describe it using these words: clean, classic, minimal. Also personally, I like the way this application displays the playlist. It makes it easy to see more audio tags at once and get a better idea about the audio files in your list.
So to sum up, if you want a highly customizable but simple audio player with a clean, classic interface, Trout is the one to try.
